A LONG-TERM INVESTMENT, INSTALLED CORRECTLY
A new roof — built to last fifty years.
A new roof is a long-term investment, and its real performance is decided at the installation stage — by the integrity of the underlying timbers, the membrane specified, the way battens are gauged, and the standard of detailing at ridges, hips, valleys and abutments. We install new pitched roofs in concrete, clay, natural slate and fibre cement slate, working on everything from single-storey extensions through to substantial Victorian and Edwardian terraces with complex roof geometries. Every installation is delivered by our own team, fully insured, and guaranteed in writing.
When a Full Re-Roof is the Right Decision
Repairing in isolation is rarely the most economical route once a roof has reached the end of its service life. Replacement typically becomes the most compelling decision when one or more of the following is present.
TYPICAL INDICATORS
Signs your roof is past repair
- Multiple slipped or cracked tiles across different areas of the roof
- Repeated leaks despite previous patch repairs
- Sagging between rafters, indicating membrane or batten failure
- Internal damp tracking along several different paths
- Perished underfelt no longer providing a secondary defence
- Surveyor flagging the roof as nearing end-of-life
In each of these cases, replacement delivers a longer service life at lower long-term cost than ongoing reactive repairs.
New Roof Coverings We Install
Each covering type behaves differently under London weather cycles. We install all four of the common pitched coverings used on housing across the boroughs we cover.
COVERING 01
Concrete Tile Roofs
The most common covering on post-war housing in the area. Concrete tiles offer excellent value, broad availability and a typical service life of 40 to 60 years. Standard plain tiles, interlocking tiles and pantile profiles are all installed.
COVERING 02
Clay Tile Roofs
Traditionally specified on Edwardian and earlier housing, handmade and machine-made clay tiles offer a longer service life and a colour that holds true rather than fading over time. Reclaimed clay tiles can also be sourced where a like-for-like match is required on a conservation property.
COVERING 03
Natural Slate Roofs
Welsh and Spanish natural slate is installed across the borough on Victorian terraces and period housing. Properly specified, a natural slate roof can perform for over a century with limited intervention.
COVERING 04
Fibre Cement Slate Roofs
A practical alternative to natural slate where cost or weight is a consideration. Fibre cement slates deliver a similar visual outcome at a lower price point, with reduced load on the underlying structure.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Every element of the build, accounted for.
A correctly specified new roof is far more than the visible covering. Every element below is included as standard in our installations, so the rebuild performs as a system rather than a finish layer alone.
Please note: we do not work with thatch, green roofs or copper coverings.
- 01 Removal and responsible disposal of the existing covering, battens and felt
- 02 Inspection of rafters, purlins and supporting timbers, with replacement where decay is identified
- 03 Installation of breathable membrane to current building regulation standards
- 04 Treated timber battens, gauged correctly to the chosen tile or slate
- 05 Tile or slate fixing in line with manufacturer specification and exposure rating
- 06 Dry-fix ridge, hip and verge systems where suitable
- 07 New lead flashings and soakers at all abutments
- 08 Renewal of lead valleys and gulleys where present
- 09 Roof ventilation upgrades to current building regulation requirements
- 10 Scaffolding for the duration of the works — arranged on our side
BUILDING REGULATIONS & INSULATION
Compliance, ventilation and insulation — handled.
Re-roofing typically falls within the scope of Building Regulations, particularly in respect of insulation and ventilation. Where more than 25% of the roof covering is being replaced, current standards generally apply to the rebuild. We coordinate with building control where required and can advise on the most cost-effective insulation upgrades to combine with the works — bringing the property up to current efficiency standards while the roof is already open.
FROM SURVEY TO SIGN-OFF
How a New Roof Installation is Delivered
A clear four-stage process keeps you informed from initial enquiry through to final handover. Weather contingency is built into every programme so the roof is never left exposed unnecessarily.
01
Survey and Specification
A full roof survey is carried out, including inspection of the loft space where accessible. The covering, structural condition and ventilation arrangement are recorded, and a specification is then drawn up around your preferences and budget.
02
Itemised Written Quotation
A detailed quotation is issued setting out the materials, scaffolding, labour, waste disposal and any timber repairs anticipated. Like-for-like pricing across competing quotations is straightforward as a result.
03
Programmed Installation
Once instructed, scaffolding is arranged and a start date is confirmed. Strip-out, timber inspection, membrane, battening and covering are all carried out in sequence by our own team — with weather contingency built into the programme.
04
Sign-Off, Guarantee & Aftercare
A final walk-around with the client confirms satisfaction with the finished roof. Workmanship is guaranteed in writing, manufacturer warranties on tiles, slates and membranes apply in addition, and aftercare contact details are provided in case any post-completion query arises.
Verifiable independent reviews
A substantial collection of five-star reviews on Google and Trustatrader — the majority generated through word-of-mouth referrals.
£1m public liability insured
Full cover for the property, our workforce and any third parties present during the works.

FAQs: New Roofs & Full Re-Roofs
Answers to the most common questions homeowners ask before commissioning a new roof installation.
How long does a typical full re-roof take?
Most pitched re-roofs on a standard semi-detached or terraced property take between 5 and 10 working days, depending on roof size, complexity, weather and any timber repairs required. A precise programme is provided with the quotation, and weather contingency is always built in so the roof is never left exposed overnight.
How long will a new roof last?
Service life depends on the covering. Concrete tile roofs typically last 40 to 60 years, clay tile roofs longer still, and natural slate roofs — properly specified — can perform for over a century. Manufacturer warranties on the materials apply in addition to our written workmanship guarantee.
Do I need planning permission or Building Regulations approval?
Planning permission is usually not required for a like-for-like re-roof, though Building Regulations generally apply — particularly around insulation and ventilation — where more than 25% of the covering is being replaced. We coordinate with building control where required and handle the technical detail on your behalf.
Can you match the existing tiles or slates on my property?
Wherever practical, yes. We source matching tiles and slates from current manufacturers, and where a profile is no longer made — common on conservation properties — reclaimed clay tiles and natural slate can be sourced to maintain visual consistency with the original roof.
Is scaffolding included in the quote?
Yes. Scaffolding is arranged on our side and included in the itemised written quotation. There are no hidden access charges added later in the project.
Are you insured, and is workmanship guaranteed?
Every project is backed by £1 million of public liability insurance as standard. Workmanship on new roof installations is guaranteed in writing on completion, and manufacturer warranties on tiles, slates and membranes apply in addition.
Do you handle insulation upgrades at the same time?
Yes — and it is the most cost-effective time to do so. While the roof is open, additional insulation can be installed at significantly lower cost than retrofitting later. We will advise on the most appropriate specification for your property as part of the survey.

“Cleanest re-roof I’ve ever seen. Walked us through the membrane spec, replaced two rafters we didn’t know were rotten, finished a day ahead of schedule. Couldn’t fault them.”
